To me there is nothing like taking a walk / hike in the woods. I am lucky that I live 10 minutes away from a huge national forest, some of you may not. Regardless, walking is one of the healthiest fitness activities you can do. There are NO excuses you can come up with why you can’t. All you need is 20 minutes and a pair of tennis shoes and you are off to the races! Easy day. Like most people, I like to listen to my music while I walk / hike. Not only am I getting a physical activity accomplished, I am relaxing and “re-tuning” my mind.
With that being said, here are 10 reasons why you should incorporate walking into your daily workout routine.
- Establishes a routine. This may be (in my opinion) the most important aspect as it creates a habit. Taking an early morning walk or evening stroll after dinner will set you up for long term success in your fitness journey.
- Good for your bones.
- Helps lower blood pressure.
- Gives you energy.
- Boosts your mood.
- It gets you outside and fresh air
- Promotes weight loss.
- Reduces stress.
- Promotes longevity.
- Helps you think clearer.
Bottom line….you need to incorporate walking / hiking into your daily routine. There is nothing like waking up early in the morning as the sun is rising and going for a brisk walk to get the blood flowing and start your day!
